DESCRIPTION:We mourn the loss of Rotarian Rocky Massaro and offer prayers and condolences to his family. \n  \nFrom the New Castle News (Terry Massaro | Obituary | New Castle News (ncnewsonline.com)) \n  \nTerry “Rocky” L. Massaro\, 70\, of Neshannock Township was called home to be with Christ on the afternoon of Tuesday\, April 23\, 2024.\nRocky was born Feb. 19\, 1954\, in New Castle to Rose (Fava) and Carmen Massaro. \nHe is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 41 years\, Ginny (Yargo) Massaro\, as well as his daughter\, Terrilyn (Joshua “Sal”) Pacella of Cochabamba\, Bolivia; his son\, Danny (Andrea) Massaro of Beaver\, Pennsylvania; and brother\, Carmen Massaro of Westlake\, Ohio. \nHe also leaves behind the lights of his life in his seven precious grandchildren who lovingly knew him as “Papa\,” Camille\, Salvatore\, Moses and Isaiah Pacella\, and Caroline\, Emery and Brooklyn Massaro. \nPreceding Rocky in death were his parents. \nRocky was a 1972 graduate of Neshannock High School and a 1976 graduate of Westminster College. \nHe began his career as an accountant at Carbis Walker LLP (now Baker Tilly) on Jan. 3\, 1978\, and worked there for his entire 46 year career as a CPA and partner. \nHe loved his community and served in various roles\, such as treasurer of the New Castle Rotary Club No. 89 and as “The Voice of the Lancers\,” announcing Neshannock High School football games for 17 seasons. \nRocky was a member of Life Family Church in New Brighton\, Pennsylvania\, and served each summer at NWD church camps for almost 30 years.\nHe loved playing his saxophone\, cutting his grass and was an avid reader of the New Castle News and his Bible. \nFamily and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday\, April 28\, 2024\, as well as from 10 a.m. Monday\, April 29\, 2024\, until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory\, 3000 Wilmington Road in Neshannock Township. Pastor Sam DeMarco will officiate.\nEntombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens. \nIn lieu of flowers\, donations can be made to three of Rocky’s favorite organizations in which he served with joy during his life. DESCRIPTION:Dr. Nicholas C. Neupauer was appointed as the eighth president of Butler County Community College in August 2007. He is the longest-serving chief executive officer in college history. \nDr. Neupauer served as BC3’s vice president for academic affairs from 2004 to 2007 and as dean of humanities and social science from 1999-2004. He was also an assistant professor and chair of the communication department at Marist College. \nIn addition to Marist College\, Dr. Neupauer previously worked at Bethany College\, West Virginia University and Clarion University of Pennsylvania. \nDr. Neupauer earned a doctorate in education in communication and instruction from West Virginia\, a master of science in communication from Clarion and a bachelor of arts degree in print journalism from Penn State University.

DESCRIPTION:Come and join the Rotary Club of New Castle for a pint and donate to End Polio Now. \n \nRotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. Our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever. \nAs a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative\, we’ve reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979. \nRotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Rotary’s advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by governments to contribute more than $10 billion to the effort. \nToday\, polio remains endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan. But it’s crucial to continue working to keep other countries polio-free. If all eradication efforts stopped today\, within 10 years\, polio could paralyze as many as 200\,000 children each year. \nExplore the history of Rotary and polio eradication \n  \n

SUMMARY:Visit to the Mission Barn
DESCRIPTION:The Mission Barn\, formerly known as The Eastbrook Mission Barn\, is one of six UMCOR Relief Supply Network depots across the United States. \nIn 2000\, Eastbrook United Methodist Church acquired a former dairy barn as part of its purchase of a new parsonage. In 2008\, the church began using the heated office space to store UMCOR cleaning buckets. \nSince 2008 they have shipped over $1 million worth of UMCOR kits; built 190+ ramps; developed 4 Satellites in 2 states; Supported 10 ramp-building ministries around their conference; supported several ERT teams with their tool trailers; and are involved with youth and adults with disabilities\, recovering addicts\, and youth and adults from WPA\, East Ohio\, West Ohio\, and Upper NY in our ministries. \nDuring 2022 they were outgrowing their space at the former dairy barn and started looking for a new home.  In early 2023 they purchased a warehouse\, only 8 miles away in Shenango Township\, near New Castle\, to continue the ministries and help them grow.  Their new location is 181 Columbus Dr.\, New Castle\, PA 16101.
