SUMMARY:Rotary Club #89 will learn about Community Foundation
DESCRIPTION:The New Castle Rotary Club will hear about the Community Foundation from Kyle English. \nThe Community Foundation of Western PA & Eastern OH has one guiding purpose\, that is to help individuals give back to a region for which they care about deeply.  Our founding fund\, the O’Brien Children Memorial Fund\, started it all by raising $53\, 997 during a fundraiser in 1981. Since then we have helped donors grant over $50 million into the community. \nBecause nobody knows a community better than people that live and work in it on a daily basis\, our foundation created its affiliate system.  These affiliates work to help individuals set up donor advised\, field of interest\, donor designated\, and scholarship funds that will support the community now and into the future. \n \nKyle English grew up in Calgary\, Canada\, moving to the United States in 2002 and to Western Pennsylvania in 2009.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bishop’s University in Lennoxville\, Quebec\, where he majored in Political Studies and minored in Business Administration and Economics. \nAfter spending the first 13 years of his career in the financial services industry\, where he worked for companies such as John Hancock\, American Express\, and Edward Jones\, Kyle entered the non-profit sector in 2013.  While working with a local business incubator\, he focused on finding different ways to connect college and high school students to the community through activities centered around starting their own business. \nKyle partnered with the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio while launching the above activities\, and was honored to be selected as its Executive Director in November of 2015. He is also an adjunct professor in the Entrepreneurship Department at Grove City College\, where he teaches courses centered around Social Entrepreneurship. \n
