This year the calendar was inspired by the private photo collection of Mike Colella. The calendar focuses on historic businesses, economic boom, and the melting pot of people who embodied New Castle. Featured are Billy Glenn, New Castle Savings and Trust, Cooper and Butler, Rohrer’s Gun Store, and more. Supplemental photos were provided by the Lawrence County Historical Society.

The calendar cost is $20 and makes a fantastic holiday gift. All proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of New Castle initiatives.

Mike Colella, a 1975 graduate of New Castle High School, grew up in an Italian American family and most people would be familiar with his father’s store, Colella Market, located in Mahoningtown for 60 years before it’s closing. With a love for history and antiques spanning 50 years, he began collecting photographs of New Castle/Lawrence County, most no one had ever seen. Mike and his wife of 42 years, Roberta, reside in New Castle and is still an avid collector.

The calendars are numbered from 000-999 and based on the PA official three-digit evening Lottery number. All numbers are played straight as drawn and daily awards are $25.00, except on five bonus days where winners receive between $100 and $500.

Since 1913, New Castle Rotary has participated in various projects that enhance and enrich those who live, work, and play in New Castle. Eighty percent of their fundraising profits go directly back into our community through local grants. Twenty percent goes to Rotary District, National, and International projects, collectively.
